Hey everyone! This week, our survey we created was sent out to the whole grade. One especially intriguing question on the survey asked if people would eat healthier substitutions if they were available. Most students answered yes (71/74 students), that they would consume healthier foods if they were introduced to them. These results helped us immensely to decide what to do next. After discussion, we concluded we should hold an event in which we can distribute these foods and pamphlets with information on symptoms, causes, and risks. We do this, in hope that, we spread awareness about these products and about diabetic details.
Although it sounds simple, a current problem we are working on is where we can buy these foods. We have also emailed Anne-Marie Hobbs, the Dean of Students at our own Windward School, asking for her approval to hold our planned event this coming Monday, May 9th, at lunch. We were also contacted by the American Diabetes Association, once again! This time, they said they wanted to ship us something, and that they had more ideas for our cause. We told them our plan to host a healthy food distribution event. We are currently waiting for another one of their responses. So far, our group’s well back on the road!
